The entire performance was phenomenal! I was such a proud big sister. Her professor, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baylor.edu\/music\/index.php?id=952984\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Eka Gogichashvili<\/a>, taught all four of my sisters and me over a sixteen-year time span. It was a fun reunion for us all to be together again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My sister began on a light note with Beethoven\u2019s lovely <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/<iframe width=&quot;560&quot; height=&quot;315&quot; src=&quot;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/M5ryzTkech8&quot; frameborder=&quot;0&quot; allow=&quot;accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture&quot; allowfullscreen><\/iframe>&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221;>Violin Sonata No. 8<\/a>. She contrasted this classical era work with Debussy\u2019s impressionistic Violin Sonata, a favorite among all of my sisters and myself. Composed in 1917, Debussy performed it on the piano himself at the premiere shortly before his death in 1918. I have included my rendition of the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/X1bJUsktNOk\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"242\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/M0Wxi9ZjTdga33nbkUs5Q_thumb_6500-e1589947710418-242x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/M0Wxi9ZjTdga33nbkUs5Q_thumb_6500-e1589947710418-242x300.jpg 242w, https:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/M0Wxi9ZjTdga33nbkUs5Q_thumb_6500-e1589947710418.jpg 506w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 242px) 100vw, 242px\" \/><figcaption>My high school senior recital<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>My sister continued the French theme, performing the formidable <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/dLeoq8P3AAQ\" target=\"_blank\">Carmen Fantasy<\/a>, Sarasate\u2019s violin take on Bizet\u2019s famous opera. Flashy and deceptively difficult, she personified the gypsy Carmen herself in her stunning red dress. Our mother performed the opera <em>Carmen<\/em> a few weeks later, so it seemed a popular one that year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, she concluded the recital on her electric violin playing a classical\/contemporary music mashup with another of my sisters. They began with a duet version of French composer <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wn0XkLAM8eE\" target=\"_blank\">Ravel\u2019s gypsy work <em>Tzigane<\/em><\/a>, followed by a funky pop mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m so grateful she enjoyed this wonderful experience a year ago, because the current collegiate seniors don&#8217;t have the same opportunity. My heart goes out to all seniors who have been affected by the effects of Covid-19. As a result, I have written a short story dedicated to those affected by the virus and its aftermath.
