Her brunette hair hung long over her fleece nightgown.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Victoria walked to the bed. \u201cLouisa, why are you awake?\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Louisa set her book down. \u201cStella wanted to sleep, but I wasn\u2019t tired.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A laugh escaped Victoria\u2019s lips. \u201cStella\u2019s only nine, and she needs her sleep. Not in the middle of the story.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The pillow-like comforter called to her, so Victoria flopped next to her sister. \u201cUnderstandable.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cHow was the concert?\u201d Louisa wiggled her feet under the sea of shimmering crimson.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe Tchaikovsky was amazing. Professor Chang\u2019s interpretation blew me away.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cShe\u2019s a fabulous musician,\u201d Louisa said. \u201cBut I don\u2019t understand how she can play a solo in front of all those people.\u201d She shuddered.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019m sure you get used to it over the years. New York-trained musicians develop a thick skin.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Louisa\u2019s face fell. \u201cYou\u2019ll be just like Professor Chang when you go to New York.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Victoria reached out to stroke Louisa\u2019s long hair. The silky tresses slid through her fingers like butter. \u201cI promise I won\u2019t forget about you. See?\u201d Victoria pulled the chocolate box from her pocket. \u201cI remembered.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>As Louisa closed her eyes, she inhaled. \u201cIt smells delicious.
