As a result, it has always been my favorite Christmas carol. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I was honored to direct and produce a music video of this hymn in collaboration with my sister musical group Uptown Violins.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, my mother thrills us once again with her angelic soprano voice, helping us reflect on the night of Christ\u2019s birth. I had the joy of singing alto alongside her while my sisters and dear friend Laura Fliege accompanied us. My dad even made a cameo appearance to honor his annual reading of Luke 2, and my husband, Dr. Robert Rescot, served as executive producer of videography and audio engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This song even plays a pivotal role in my music novel. Here is an excerpt from the Christmas scene:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" type=\"text\/html\" width=\"336\" height=\"550\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen style=\"max-width:100%\" src=\"https:\/\/read.amazon.com\/kp\/card?asin=B095PW52BH&#038;preview=inline&#038;linkCode=kpe&#038;ref_=cm_sw_r_kb_dp_9CRB2JWZWRC25P6HKSRE&#038;tag=rcdc0a-20\" ><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cGirls, it\u2019s time.\u201d Mom peeked her head backstage. \u201cGrab your instruments.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Adrienne scooped up her viola. Victoria and Louisa followed her onstage.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Seconds later, their mother\u2019s voice rang out through the microphone. \u201cThis next song holds a special place in my heart. It\u2019s one I\u2019ve treasured since childhood. Written by composer Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem \u201cMinuit Chretien,\u201d the hymn tells the story of our Savior&#8217;s birth. I hope you enjoy the music as we perform \u2018O Holy Night.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Louisa made her way to the piano while Victoria and Adrienne took their places next to each other. After the piano\u2019s opening bars, Mom\u2019s soprano floated through the air.\u201cO holy night, the stars are brightly shining; It is the night of our dear Savior\u2019s birth!\u201d Her silver dress sparkled in the shimmering light like the stars about which she sang.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Peterson_Christmas_2020-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1988\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Peterson_Christmas_2020-3.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Peterson_Christmas_2020-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Peterson_Christmas_2020-3-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Peterson_Christmas_2020-3-24x16.jpg 24w, https:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Peterson_Christmas_2020-3-36x24.jpg 36w, https:\/\/www.rescotcreative.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Peterson_Christmas_2020-3-48x32.jpg 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Adrienne\u2019s viola joined Victoria\u2019s violin with the harmony as Mom continued. \u201cLong lay the world in sin and error pining, Till he appeared, and the soul felt its worth.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Victoria closed her eyes and let the music wash over her. <\/em>Dear God, I\u2019ve made a mess. I haven\u2019t loved my brother, or in this case my sister, as myself. Please help me to change, to remedy past wrongs. Give me the strength.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cO night, divine. O night divine.\u201d Mom\u2019s conclusion of the stanza cued Victoria. She lifted the instrument to her shoulder. With a nod to Adrienne, they began the next verse together.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTruly He taught us to love one another; His law is love and His gospel is peace.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The lyrics reached a deep corner of Victoria\u2019s soul, one she\u2019d ignored far too long. As she pulled her bow across the strings, the notes blended like angel voices in perfect harmony. She drew a deep breath, and a sense of peace filled her heart.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Mom\u2019s sweet voice continued to ring through the hall. \u201cChains shall He break for the slave is our brother, And in His name all oppression shall cease.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>God, break the chains that have kept us apart, and help us to love each other as You love us.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cSweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, Let all within us praise His holy name.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The violin\u2019s descant blended with the soprano and the viola\u2019s rich alto like a prayer to Heaven.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>As Mom approached the climactic high note, she turned to face her daughters. \u201cChrist is the Lord! O praise His name forever! The power of the moment surpassed words.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Several seconds later, vigorous applause broke out. Mom covered her heart and took a deep bow.
